For years the Mercedes S-Class has been a staple for many different kinds of people throughout the world. Throughout its tenure, it has been nothing but a safe and cushy big bodied sedan…that’s all about to change.

According to Mercedes, the next-generation S-Class will arrive late next year as a 2013 model. When it does, it will be available in FOUR different body styles.

Now that you’re all wondering, the first 2 models will be the long and short wheel-base versions. The third option is not a wagon, not a four-door coupe, but a two-door S-Class Coupe. Following the integration of the CLK into the E-Class family tree and the arrival of the new C-Class coupe, the CL coupe will be re-engineered into an S-Class, with 2 doors.

The fourth and most exciting new S-Class variant is of course a convertible version. Mercedes unveiled the Ocean Drive Concept back in 2007, but never pursued it. Finally, they see a green light for a product that doesn’t exist in the market. What would be better than sitting in the back of an S-Class with no roof!?

The current Ocean Drive Concept has four-doors, but Mercedes is hinting at the production S-Class Cabriolet to have two doors.

We are very excited!
